Summer..
Summer is finally here and I’ve finished all my exams. Woop!
I’ve got an entire six weeks to do “Whatever I feel like I wanna do, Gosh!” - Napoleon Dynamite.
So I’m going to go make some changes to my site on the internet and this here tumblog. I’ve been building a brand new site by hand which is quintessentially a portfolio site to show my web design work, graphic design work and photography. To sit on my http://www.karlmroberts.co.uk server, the current one, which is powered by Rapeidweaver an application for my mac, which allows me to edit and upload my blog to the server from my desktop. However rapidweaver has recently crapped out on me, so I’ll just wipe the slate clean. Since I’ll have lost use of my blog on that server, I’ll move the blog to here, which I’ve created a theme for to match the rest of the site and can link back to the portfolio. I’ve almost finished building the site on my local host and I’ll probably have it up some time next week, I need to adjust a PHP contact form and replace it with one from Wufoo, since my server doesn’t support PHP or MySQl (it sucks)..
Anyway, that’s all my plans for the internet in the summer and when the portfolio is up I’ll hopefully use it to attract potential clients to work for..
I also got through to college, which I may have mentioned in my last post. My CV got me through to another selection process, we were told to sit in a room with computers. And complete Numeracy and Literacy test’s through a program on the desktop. I hope I did alright, this opportunity isn’t one to miss. :/
Thats pretty much it for now. If your wondering about the quote at the beginning of the post type “Napoleon Dynamite” into google, youtube, or iTunes. It’s a film I’ve recently become hooked on.. Brilliant.
Thats it, I’m off! :)
Apologies
Apologies, Tumblr. I haven’t posted anything to here lately, so heres the shizzle..
I’ve left school! after 5 years of secondary school, I’m done, and as I’m typing this today I finished 8 of my 12 exams! with 4 left until I’m home free for the 6 weeks. My original intention was to join the sixth form which is basically year 12 for me, where I can study A-Level subjects (if I bag enough GCSE’s that is) but another opportunity has risen, thanks to my dad reading the newspaper :)
It’s the chance to do an apprenticeship. (A course of learning where you are taught first hand experience in the work environment and payed for it!) in systems development and a chance to work with SQL, Flex, C# and C++ which is basically any geek’s dream of my age. I’ve handed in my CV to them, with all the web development stuff I do already (HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL) and http://www.flasharkive.co.uk I’m hoping I receive an application form which will mean I’ve been shortlisted and put in with the final few.
So things are looking slightly up at the moment, which I wish that I could say for the country at the moment. Since this post is going to be more of a political rant from now, so if your not into that, you can stop reading..
When Tony Blair (Our previous labour prime minister) stepped down, he was immediately replaced by Gordon Brown, which infuriated allot of people, as there actually should have been a general election where the leading party would have been decided again Ie: labour, conservative, lib dem’s, green party. But there wasn’t even a vote for brown himself to be in office.
But at the moment, political turmoil is erupting as corrupt politicians (from both sides) have been claiming off of expenses for items such as duck houses and helipads. This money that has been used comes from where I here you ask?
The tax payers back pocket. With all this kicking off and westminster in turmoil, people are leaving the cabinet. And a general election needs to be called. And I don’t give a crap who gets into office, Green party would be a better alternative (No offense green party, you do make more sense) to the labour rule right now.
It’s absolutely crazy, the situation is. We also have the european elections, of which I think no one has given a thought to which could be bad as we don’t want the far right opposition controlling a vast majority of our laws (Fascist’s). Korea is kicking off again.
So things are great now. Thanks for reading if you have.
